Summer Sonnet

Summer Sonnet Cover
Like voices stilled by glory came the stars
Upon the evening's brow, singing soft
The songs of freedom, singing lucid scars
Of dying comfort, singing blood drops coughed.

Like faces filled with glory came the clouds
Upon the night's soft brow, shining gleams
Of gold and story, shining silken shrouds
Of dying losses, shining blood-bright beams.

Like gestures killed in glory came the lights
Of winter's lightning, cutting through the dark
In dream and daring, cutting through the night's
Soft dying darkness in electric arc.

The dusk's dark sound, and look, and feel reflect
The hidden fears that summer nights project.
