He Uttered The Spell Of Prajnaparmita

He Uttered The Spell Of Prajnaparmita Image
Perhaps the most beloved of all the sutras, the Heart Sutra plays a key role in the Buddhism of Tibet, Korea, China and Japan, where it is chanted, studied and meditated upon. Heart-sutra is quite a meaningful and important sutra. In this sultra, the relationship between 'VOID' and 'FORMS' is significantly explained... Listen to Heart Sutra in Sanskrit in real player. The chanting is very beautiful and Zen.

THE HEART SUTRA

When the Bodhisattva Avalokitesvara.

Was Coursing in the Deep Prajna Paramita.

He Perceived That All Five Skandhas Are Empty.

Thus He Overcame All Ills and Suffering.

Oh, Sariputra, Form Does not Differ From the Void,

And the Void Does Not Differ From Form.

Form is Void and Void is Form;

The Same is True For Feelings,

Perceptions, Volitions and Consciousness.

Sariputra, the Characteristics of the

Voidness of All Dharmas

Are Non-Arising, Non-Ceasing, Non-Defiled,

Non-Pure, Non-Increasing, Non-Decreasing.

Therefore, in the Void There Are No Forms,

No Feelings, Perceptions, Volitions or Consciousness.

No Eye, Ear, Nose, Tongue, Body or Mind;

No Form, Sound, Smell, Taste, Touch or Mind Object;

No Realm of the Eye,

Until We Come to No realm of Consciousness.

No ignorance and Also No Ending of Ignorance,

Until We Come to No Old Age and Death and

No Ending of Old Age and Death.

Also, There is No Truth of Suffering,

Of the Cause of Suffering,

Of the Cessation of Suffering, Nor of the Path.

There is No Wisdom, and There is No Attainment Whatsoever.

Because There is Nothing to Be Attained,

The Bodhisattva Relying On Prajna Paramita Has

No Obstruction in His Mind.

Because There is No Obstruction, He Has no Fear,

And He passes Far Beyond Confused Imagination.

And Reaches Ultimate Nirvana.

The Buddhas of the Past, Present and Future,

By Relying on Prajna Paramita

Have Attained Supreme Enlightenment.

Therefore, the Prajna Paramita is the Great Magic Spell,

The Spell of Illumination, the Supreme Spell,

Which Can Truly Protect One From All Suffering Without Fail.

Therefore He Uttered the Spell of Prajnaparmita,

Saying Gate, Gate, Paragate, Parasamgate, Bodhi Svaha.

Alice An Adultery

Alice An Adultery Image
Aleister Crowley, in "Alice, An Adultery" (Society for the Propagation of Religious Truth, 1905 E.V., p.3):

"Beneath the living cross I lie

And swoon towards eternity:

Prodigious sinewy shapes, and lean,

And curving limbs of Messaline.

"The deep arched eyes, the floating mane,-

One pierces, one wraps-in my brain:

A crown of thorn, a spear of clean

Cold fire of dying Messaline.

"Swart tangles of devouring hair,

The scorpion labyrinth and snare,

Leprous entaglements of sense,

The Imminence of the Immense.

And in the deep hard breath I draw

Kissed from her strangling mouth and maw,

I feel the floating deaths that dwell

About that citadel of hell:

A soft lewd flavour, an obscene

Mysterious self of Messaline.

"Or, in the kisses that swoop low

To catch my breath and kill me so,

I feel the ghostliness of this

Unreal shuttle-game-the kiss!

Her moving body sobs above,

And calls its lechery true love.

Out from the flame of heart she plucks

One flower of fiery light, and sucks

Its essence up within her lips.

And flings it into mine, and dips

And bends her body, writhes and swims

To link the velvet of our limbs,

My drouthy passion worn and keen,

And lusty life of Messaline.

"The heart's blood in her boiling over

She sucked from many a dying lover:

The purple of her racing veins

Leapt from some soul's despairing pains.

She drinks up life as from a cup;

She drains our health and builds it up

Into her body; takes our breath,

And we-we dream not it is death!

Arm unto arm and eye to eye,

Breast to great breast and thigh to thigh.

We look, and strain, and laugh, and die.

I see the head hovering above

To swoop for cruelty or love;

I feel the swollen veins below

The knotted throat: the ebb and flow

Of blood, not milk, in breasts of fire:

Of deaths, not fluctuants, of desire:

Of molten lava that abides

Deep in the vast volcanic sides;

Deep scars where kisses once bit in

Below young mountains that be twin,

Stigmata cruciform of sin,

The diary of Messaline.

"The moving mountains crater-crowned;

The valleys deep and silver-bound:

The girdle treacherously wound;

One violet-crested mounded mole,

Some blood-stain filtered from the soul;

The light and shadow shed between

My soul and God from Messaline.

"And even as a dark and hidden

Furnace roars out in woods forbidden,

A sullen tide of molten steel

Runs from deep furrows in the wheel;

So from afar one central heat

Sends the loud pulse to fever beat;

So from one crown and heart of fire

Spring the vast phantoms of desire,

Impossible and epicene,

Familiar souls of Messaline.

"And as, when thunder broods afar

Imperial destinies of war

Men see the haze and heat, and feel

The sun's rays like a shaft of steel.

Seeing no sun; even so the night

Clouds that deep miracle from sight:

Until this destiny be done

Hangs the corona on the sun;

And I absorbed in those unclean

Ghost-haunted veins of Messaline."

Gypsy Love Song

Gypsy Love Song Cover
Tropical night, Malaria moon

Dying stars of the silver screen

She danced that famous Gypsy dance

With a hole in her tambourine

I was young enough and dumb enough

I swallowed down my Mickey Finn

She'd hijacked a few hearts all right

I went into a tailspin

Don't sing me, don't sing me, don't sing me

No more gypsy love songs

Don't sing me, don't sing me, don't sing me

No more gypsy love songs

Don't stir it up again

I put my arm around her waist

Says she, young man, you're getting warm

The room was going somewhere without me

And she laughed as she read my palm

Stillborn love, passionate dreams, pitiful greed

And the silver tongues of the tinker girls,

Who throw their book of life at you

But don't know how to read

Don't sing me, don't sing me, don't sing me

No more gypsy love songs

Don't sing me, don't sing me, don't sing me

No more gypsy love songs

Don't stir it up again

She was third generation Transylvanian

I was the seventh son of a seventh son

I begged the band don't play that tune

Please don't beguine the begun

When I awoke, she'd cut and run

She stole my blueprints and my change

Just a horseshoe and a note on the bed

And all it said was--strange

Don't sing me, don't sing me, don't sing me

No more gypsy love songs

Don't sing me, don't sing me, don't sing me

No more gypsy love songs

Don't stir it up again

"*I found this little song in one of my files,

the music wasn't with it and I don't know the author.

If anyone reading this happens to know about it,

please post so I can give due credit.

Religion Spiritual Athlete In An Orange Robe Kabir By Robert Bly

Religion Spiritual Athlete In An Orange Robe Kabir By Robert Bly Image
photograph by MysticLens at a Hindu Temple, Singapore

...

The spiritual athlete often changes

the color of his clothes,

but mine remains gray and loveless.

he sits inside the shrine room all day

so that God has to go out and praise the rocks.

or he drill holes in his ears,

his beard grows enormous and matted,

people mistake him for a goat.

and he goes into wilderness areas

and he strangles his impulses

and makes himself neither male or female.

he shaves his skull

puts his robe in an orange vat,

reads the Bhagavad Gita

and becomes a terrific talker.

Kabir says,

actually you are going in herds

to the country of death

bound

hand and foot.

. Kabir: Ecstatic Poems translated by Robert Bly.

. click here to listen to Robert Bly's translation and recitation.

The video is from performance of poetry of Kabir at one of the Mythic Journeys conferences. Musical accompaniment by Eugene Friesen and Arto Tuncboyaciyan is simply gorgeous!

here mystic poet Kabir is criticizing the spiritual tourists and ascetics who went too far in their pursuit while neglecting what it means to be human. Kabir lived in an age where asceticism in hindu path was "the spiritual thing" of the time. but Kabir was not so crazy about it.

while listening to this poem, it resonated very much what dear blog reader, sneez wrote in the comment: "spirituality disconnected from real life and suffering of others is vanity of ego. I think that noticing such events and expressing the pain is what belongs to every (one) concerned about human spirit and mind."

A Hawaiian Prosperity Chant

A Hawaiian Prosperity Chant Image
If this is the first time you have ever chanted a Hawaiian song, you may want to start with the vowels. In Hawaiian, here's how each vowel sounds:

A = "ah" (as in "ha, ha")

E = "eh" (as in "check")

I = "ee" (as in "team")

O = "oh" (as in "home")

U = "oo" (as in "who")

Even when vowels are doubled up, such as in the Hawaiian, "oo" it is still, "oh-oh," and not "oo." (We're told the vowels are the same as they are in Spanish.)

So, to start, you may want to chant the vowels, as each beginning chanting student does. Stand up, take a deep breath, and chant "aaaaaaaaaaa" for the entire breath, and then continue with each of the vowels. Repeat. Continue for five minutes.

Notice the feelings inside as you chant. What's happening in there? Pay attention to other parts of your body. How are they affected? Each vowel activates a different part of your neurology, so notice what's going on as you chant.

Now, let's move on to learning the Hawaiian prosperity chant. After you know the vowels, the whole word is easy. This chant is called "E LAKA E".

First, read the English, so you have an idea of the purpose and meaning of the chant.

"

Oh goddess Laka

0 wildwood bouquet, 0 Laka

0 Laka, queen of the voice

0 Laka, giver of gifts

0 Laka, giver of bounty

0 Laka, giver of all things

I greet you with love.

And this is the chant in Hawaiian:

E Laka e

Pupu we'uwe'u, e Laka e

E Laka i ka leo

E Laka i ka loa'a

E Laka i ka wai wai

E Laka i na mea a pau

Ano ai ke aloha e

To listen to it, you can either download the MP3 (see below) or visit the web page at Mystical Hawaii and hear to it there:

That She Is Still The Goddess Of Eternal Youth

That She Is Still The Goddess Of Eternal Youth Image
Areia Daphnaia's Lost Homeric Hymns

Lost Homeric Hymns

(c) 1995, Areia Daphnaia

* To Artemis (I)

* To Iris (I)

* To Hebe (I)

* To Hebe (II)

* To Selene (I)

* To Ares (III)

Lost Homeric Hymn to Artemis (I)

Great Goddess Artemis, Maiden Huntress,
Magnetic sharer of the crescent moon,
Grant me understanding of all that is Wild and Natural,
Grant me the power of chastity,
Grant me the loving force of the Mother,
Grant me transcendation from the ordinary.

You are She who Roams the Woods Alone,
Never afraid to face the dangers of the unknown,
Instill in me this sense of pride
In the naked face of the God Phobos.
I revel in the silvery shafts of your bow and arrow,
O Kynthia, Phoebe, Daphnaia, Korythalia,
Member of the true Holy Trinity,
Spread Your Wisdom to those who will not listen,
Or let me continue your legacy for You,
O Howling Huntress, O Moon Maiden.

Lost Homeric Hymn to Iris (I)

Sing, Muse, of the Great Goddess Iris the fleet-footed,
Protectress of the Rainbow, guardian of secrets.
Sing of her magnificent wings of many colours,
And Her radiant, all-encompassing beauty.
Good, gracious Goddess, grant me
Temperance, sensitivity, and understanding, O swift messenger.
I will be sure to remember You in another song,
Whether or not You remember me.

Lost Homeric Hymn to Hebe (I)

Note: I don't see Hebe in the traditional fashion. She has always struck me as an underappreciated, dissatisfied Goddess--the Goddess of Annoyed Adolescence, not carefree youth. The following hymns reflect this.

Sing to me, Muse, of the rosy Goddess Hebe,
Crowned with blooming violets and daffodils,
And other buds of Spring.
She of the Lovely Ankles,
Bringer of Youth,
Sympathiser to adolescents,
She never ages, but stays forever a teenager.

Light-footed Hebe,
Who carries the golden plates
Through the halls of mighty Olympos.
Skilled waitress, devoted Lady in Waiting,
Patroness of petty household chores galore.

Her golden hair bounces
As She crosses the fields of the sky,
Hebe, who has a heavy heart,
Daughter of Hera and Zeus,
Sister to skilled Hephaistos,
Eris, Eileithyia, and violent Ares.

She has had to do the dishes
For over 2,000 years,
Still Her complaints go unanswered,
But I shall remember you,
O Great Goddess Hebe,
I shall sing of you in another song.

Lost Homeric Hymn to Hebe (II)

Remind me, O Muse, of the Goddess Hebe,
Keeper of the sacred nail file!
Hebe, who has many jeebies,
Makes Her way amongst the Proud Twelve,
Muttering and sighing as She picks up debris.

Hebe, who married strong Herakles,
Yet who was not even mentioned
In His A&E television biography last week.

Hebe, who possessed great ingenuity,
Yet reads the Olympian Enquirer cover to cover.
Hebe, whose Nordic golden hair
Frames Her annoyed, lovely face
And reminds all who look upon Her
That She is still the Goddess of Eternal Youth,
And needs to be appreciated.

Lost Homeric Hymn to Selene (I)

I'll start the singing By invoking the Bright Goddess the beautifully tressed Selene Hyperion's child Daughter of brightness I praise you infinitely, She of the Lovely Hair That streams behind you as you ride Your four milky-white mares through the stream of the sky Divine patroness of becoming a full and complete nymph a recognised woman Divine ruler of Night Puller of the silver strings Of Poseidon's mighty tides Magnet of all life Surveyor of Gaia's fertility Whose green grass Grows wild and free Under my maiden's feet Goddess to whom I'm singing this song to whom I shall always be singing For though you are not of the Twelve there you ride nontheless I bid thee safe journey, Bright One And I will remember you in another song

Lost Homeric Hymn to Ares (III)

Note: For this one, first look at the real Homeric Hymn to Ares, because this is a direct parody of it.

Ares, raging force,
Ares, chariot breaker,
Ares wears tarnished helmet,
Ares has broken heart,
Ares, shield-stabber,
Ares, destroyer of city,
Ares has armour of hate,
Ares has blood-covered arms,
Ares is always tired of life,
Ares, cruel with spear,
Ares, outcast of Olympos,
Ares, distant from Nike,
Who Herself is distant from Him,
Ares, devoid of Justice,
Ares is hated by both sides,
Ares, leader of most angry men,
Ares abuses staff of manhood,
Ares twists His fiery death cycle
Among the seven-sgned tracks
Of the aether, where bloodthirsty chargers
Bear Him with passion
Over the forgotten Third Orbit!
Hear me,
Bane of mankind,
Dispenser of youth's unbridled energy,
Scream down from up there
Your crimson light
Into our peaceful lives,
And your martial ardour,
So that I can embrace in
Cruel cowardice
In my head,
And encourage the delicious rush
Of my spirit, and incite
That shrill voice in my heart
That provokes me
To enter the chilling din of battle
You, ferocious God,
Give me mercilessness,
Let me linger
In the fierce dance of war,
And thus embrace
The battles with enemies
And the fate of a violent death.

Binding Spell For General Use

Binding Spell For General Use Image
Take a piece of light-weight cardboard and draw images and write words on it to represent the evils that you wish to bind...examples being a man with an X crossing out his heart to show it is closed, words like Greed, Irresponsibilty, disrespect, etc...then crumple the cardboard up into a loose ball.

Take a piece of black yarn and wind it around the cardboard twenty one times. With each time you loop the string around the cardboard, say one line of the following chant...

With the thread of the crimes

of your own design

I bind your evil

Three time seven times.

I bind you from Behind

I bind you from Before

That you'll hurt my people

never ever more

I bind you fro mteh Left

I bind you from the Right

I bind you by Day

And I bind you by Night.

I bind you from Below

I bind you from Above

That you may ever know

The laws of Life and Love

I bind you with your own

Good conscience Within

And so let this magic

Unfold

And spin....

Tie off the ends of the yarn with three sturdy knots to seal the spell. When done with this, burn the wrapped images and words in a loud, strong, crackling fire. Chant these words until it is thoroughly burned:

Goddess of darkest night

Send our troubles all to flight

Burn them in thy sacred fires

And replace them with our hearts' desires!

Once the image is burned and all negativity removed, do a positive visualization to replace it...for example, people laughing and dancing in rainbows, etc. Be sure that when you do this you cast a strong protective circle around yourself and all participants before you begin.
